SALARY: $79,247.71 to $114,890.41

NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One (1)

DUTIES: Under direction of the Attorney General or First Assistant Attorney General, serves as a Special Assistant in the Office of the Attorney General. The Special Assistant will perform work of a complex nature concerning the development and implementation of Department policies and priorities that focus on criminal justice matters; organize, coordinate, and lead various working groups and task forces comprised of state, county, municipal, and federal law enforcement entities and other partners; act as a liaison with Department divisions and State agencies on priority operational, policy, and legal issues; represent the First Assistant or other members of the Executive Leadership Team on various working groups and at events; work directly with the Attorney General’s Executive Leadership Team on Department projects and initiatives; do other work as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice law in the State of New Jersey is required.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.

LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

PREFERNCE: Preference will be given to applicants with a background in the practice of criminal law, who demonstrate an extensive knowledge of New Jersey’s criminal justice environment, law enforcement stakeholders, and who have experience participating and organizing in multi-agency working groups.
