Position Overview

This position oversees the packaging, labeling and shipping of commercial product and large scale clinical trial material; supervises activities in a cost-effective manner for the packaging of pharmaceutical products that meet cGMP and DEA requirements.

Key Responsibility Areas

Packaging Line Improvements: Assist with the sterilization and other upgrades associated with the packaging lines; complete operator training for the operations of new technology
People Leadership: Positively influence a continuous improvement mindset/culture and support learning and development initiatives designed to enhance workplace productivity and efficiency as well as to integrate methodologies into daily activities
Streamline Work Orders: Review and streamline work order to ensure efficiency and minimize documentation errors and deviations
Specific Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee commercial packaging projects
Maintain production schedules and timelines
Responsible for cGMP compliance in all aspects of equipment calibration, packaging process, and batch records
Adhere to DEA controlled substances regulations
Interact with Facilities Maintenance to support the proper control of packaging rooms and various water and air handling systems
Ensure that batches are finished on time to meet the completion dates as agreed to with Planning and Scheduling including the review of completed batch records and completion of all required DEA documentation
Monitor packaging components and provide input to Planning and Scheduling to ensure availability when needed
Ensure that packaging equipment is maintained in a timely manner such that there are not questions as to its ability to perform its assigned function, including preventative maintenance and cleaning

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Pharmacy, Engineering) or Business Management or Operations, with 2 years relevant experience in a pharmaceutical production area, including leadership experience resulting in sound functional understanding of pharmaceutical packaging processes
Associate’s degree in science or related discipline, Business Management or Operations with 5 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical production area, including leadership experience resulting in sound functional understanding of pharmaceutical packaging processes
High school with 8 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical production area, including leadership experience resulting in sound functional understanding of pharmaceutical packaging processes
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs unassisted
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
Requires bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, climbing
Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time
Some exposure to hazardous chemical and other active chemical ingredients
