The Project Manager manages complex and strategic bids across market segments, including Health Plans, National, and Public Sector. The Client Proposals team is responsible for managing the RFP process for both prospective and current clients from receipt of the RFP through submission, follow-up activities, and contract negotiations. The Proposal Team responds to more than 800 custom RFPs per year. Client Proposals supports the sales and account management organization and overall bottom line by generating new and retaining current business, which can positively impact increased revenue, script volume, and profit. The Client Proposals team works closely with other critical business areas, such as Legal, Contracting, Finance, and Underwriting, to develop sound, competitive proposals. The members of the Client Proposals team interact with cross-functional partners of varying levels throughout the organization, up to and including Senior Staff.
Manage assigned proposal projects to include:
analysis, research, writing/editing responses to RFI/RFP questionnaires; negotiate requirements in any RFP contracts and questionnaires with appropriate cross-functional SMEs; create proposal documents and other exhibits to support the defined sales strategy and strengths of company’s product and service offerings.
Work cross-functionally to execute proposal projects, including cross- functional team communications, timelines, and follow-up, to ensure accurate, complete and quality input from operational areas to complete proposal production for on time delivery. Generate proposal and sales documents while adhering to corporate marketing standards, department guidelines, templates, and styles. Coordinate production and shipping to ensure accurate and on- time delivery. Resolve issues and conflict with appropriate escalation.
Manage and facilitate requirements and contract reviews to ensure they are in line with the corporate position; working with cross-functional SMEs to get agreements to requirements and increase our overall requirements compliance. Vet and assemble requirements and contract language to review and negotiate with appropriate cross-functional SMEs, legal, sales, and account management. Coordinate and complete redline of contracts on client paper during RFP process, working with legal and cross-functional SMEs to obtain business owner approval and deliver an executable contract to a client or prospect.
Lead and participate in ad hoc projects and process ownership/responsibility. Serve as project lead on ad hoc projects, working with both internal partners and cross-functional partners to define, develop, and implement process improvements. Contribute to culture of continuous improvements and shares ownership of process improvement efforts. Display sound critical thinking skills, brings forth ideas.
Serve as Subject Matter Expert for assigned Tier 1 (more complex and larger BAs) benefit advisor template. Develop/demonstrate/share expert knowledge of the template; collaborate with RM and SRD to keep the benefit advisor template current.
Provide training, coaching, and mentoring of team members as it relates to proposals and/or projects.
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years relevant business experience; or Master’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience; or without a degree, 11 years relevant experience
3-5 years of significant project management and cross-functional experience with a multi-functional operations and business processes preferred
PMI certification a plus
Exceptional project management skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated cross functional team leadership ability
Ability to handle multiple projects and complete projects under tight and varying deadlines
Ability to work well in a team environment, and independently
Working knowledge of word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, and database software
Prior proposal writing experience in PBM/healthcare industry preferred.
