Job summary
The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for an Infrastructure Architect with broad experience in design, development, deployment, and support of infrastructure solutions for the SAP landscape. In this role, you will listen to customer technical challenges and suggest various solutions, understanding that the same solutions may not be suitable for everyone. You'll work with the sales team to provide deep technical insight for Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure and Red Hat Hybrid Cloud Management solutions. As an Infrastructure Architect, you'll need to have a deep understanding of Linux and management solutions, particularly automation and hybrid cloud solutions, along with experience applying those to SAP infrastructure requirements and implementations. You'll also need excellent communication and people skills, as you will be in front of customers on a daily basis. This is a remote based position and can be located anywhere in the United States within close proximity to an airport. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities
Understand customer challenges with SAP infrastructure projects and provide technical solutions to address these issues using the Red Hat portfolio of offerings
Use your extensive knowledge of our offerings and technical expertise to prepare customer proposals
Present complex solutions to potential customers, explaining the business value of Red Hat's SAP solutions to customers and partners
Provide and document architecture and design guidance addressing the concerns and needs of the business and operations
Research and write responses to technical sections of requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs)
Participate in kicking off new projects; inform and support the implementation team of the project's design
Provide hands-on technical delivery
Deliver compelling recommendations that result in the closing of new sales
Gain a deep understanding of customer business and IT environments and collaborate across sales and services teams to assess the potential application of Red Hat's solutions
Support events with SAP, user groups, etc. by evangelizing Red Hat's solutions and conducting demonstrations
Actively participate in Red Hat's SAP Community of Practice
Document and contribute to the global Red Hat knowledge management system
Travel weekly to customer sites throughout the United States, Monday to Thursday out of the week for 30-40 weeks out of the year
Required skills
Red Hat Certified Engineer Certification (RHCE) is required; Red Hat Certified Architect Certification (RHCA) is a plus
Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar technical field
3+ years of experience doing consulting delivery in the SAP infrastructure space
5+ years of experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or with other Linux flavors
Knowledge of and experience with OS/DB migrations, and specifically with the migration of the OS and DB SAP instances to different target OS and DB platform
SAP instance and database management skills, especially for SAP HANA database platform
SAP migrations certifications are a plus, practical experience is mandatory
Advanced knowledge of relevant platform and infrastructure solutions; subject matter expert level of technical depth in one or more products and technologies like Linux, system management, high availability clustering, virtualization, operations, or maintenance
Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
Proven record of developing relationships at engineering, commercial, and executive levels throughout large enterprise IT organizations
Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, pro-actively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments
Comfortable presenting to and having technical and business discussions with senior management, namely with the Director of Enterprise Applications and the Head of IT, as well as with SAP Basis administrators
5+ years of experience with Linux and Unix operating systems
Fluent communication skills in English
Ability to demonstrate and support presales pilots and practical proofs of concepts-based shaping success criteria to achieve technical wins in customer engagements
