Role Overview
Time Out is seeking a Photographer to join the team. The Photographer will be responsible for using their extensive skill set to produce original, dynamic, on-brand photography for usage on multiple platforms. This can include portraits, food, events, reportage, still life and studio shoots for print and digital. The Photographer will also assist the Time Out Market initiative with original photography for events, interiors, chef portraits, food & drink, and more. The Photographer will work closely with the Design and Photo Editing team, and will collaborate with key staff of business departments including Content, Events, Creative Solutions, Marketing, E-Commerce and more.

Key Responsibilities

Shoot a wide variety of subjects including portraits, food, events, reportage, still life and studio shoots, working with natural light, flash and studio lighting setups

Deliver high-quality images in a timely manner

Edit and process images quickly and pass onto Design and Photo Editing team Retouch, crop and upload digital images with a eye for high quality and detail

Manage and archive all images photographed. Name and maintain digital asset file/structure organization

Contribute ideas for photo shoots and features, and conduct/carry out shoots

Organize shoots and source props as needed
Work to key/specific briefs and be able to convey the company’s values through briefs

Travel to locations across the NYC metro area as needed, and travel across the East coast occasionally to carry out tasks

Maintain the highest level of quality and production

Embrace Time Out’s digital-first, mobile-first philosophy

Act as an effective brand ambassador for Time Out Group and an evangelist for our brand in the market

Personal attributes and essential skills

Expert proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge is required

A demonstrable passion for and excellent knowledge of digital and print design

Demonstrated desire to build a great business

A clear understanding of the financial and functional dynamics of a global media business

Clear ability to collaborate across business functions and with external parties
Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize accordingly

Experience writing tight briefs for external contributors

The ability to work quickly to tight deadlines under pressure

A strong industry reputation

Flexibility and a professional approach at all times

The ability to self-supervise in order to meet deadlines
Ability to work in and contribute to a fun and dynamic team-based environment

Video shooting and editing skills preferred, but not required
