Summary:
This position will report to the Manager, QRC Auditing Services within the Quality Systems and Governance COE and will also work closely with other QRC and Plant personnel relative to QRC Policies, Programs and System. The incumbent will facilitate development, revision and review of Hershey’s Product Excellence Program policies and associated documentation through the Governance Working Group. Typical activities include facilitating program documentation development and review processes, ensuring Quality Management System governance process is uniformly applied and executed.

Additionally, this position will work with the Mgr, QRC Auditing Services to schedule, coordinate, and execute facility audits to assess facility compliance to Hershey’s Food Safety and Quality Programs, Policies and Standards. In addition to executing the audits, this position has responsibility to compile and track status of Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions provided by audited facilities and report findings to QRC and Supply Chain leadership.

The QRC Specialist is considered to be a “generalist” with basic knowledge in multiple areas including local regulations, industry practices, and corporate policies related to these quality systems and program implementation. Incumbent will develop a full understanding of corporate wide quality systems, with ability to discuss and advise on documentation contents and system capabilities as required.

This QRC Specialist will also serve as the Technical manager of the Product Excellence Program Manual on the SharePoint site. Leveraging site capabilities for work flow and currency. Specialist will also support the Manager on additional Quality System development and support projects.

This position requires travel up to 40% on average, including domestic and international travel, sometimes on short notice.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
1.

Facilitate evaluation of PEP to ensure efficacy of program and scope of supply chain.
Facilitates governance working group in
Develops, revises and reviews Hershey’s PEP policies.
Develops, revises and reviews standards and procedures associated with PEP Policies
Performs day to day administration of PEP Manual, and revision process project management
Provide support to SMEs relative to documentation format, program alignment and execution of governance process
SharePoint site technical manager

2. Food Safety / Food Quality Assessment Program:
With the help of the Manager, QRC Auditing Services, effectively plan and manage internal quality system assessments of all The Hershey Company Global Manufacturing facilities.
Assist with the development of auditor capability and competency at COE level and THC owned facilities.
Liaison with Internal Audit as QRC Business Contact for follow up and resolution of open recommendations.
Partner with Internal Audit for collaboration on assessment processes and follow up activities.
Develop and implement quarterly review with QRC Senior Leadership regarding outstanding food safety issues and concerns

3. Project Leadership: Under moderate direction functions as QRC (Quality Systems and Governance) representative on quality system and quality process projects, which may include: development of information management systems for specifications (ingredient, in process and finished product), system based quality management functions (including batch management, date coding, COAs, other customer required documentation, and others as needed), and defined document management processes.

4. Continuous Improvement

Participate in process/procedure improvement sessions related to COE (Center of Excellence) level quality management system program: processes for policy / standard development, evaluation and maintaining currency, developing and maintaining product quality specifications and documentation, and overall quality system improvements.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

Superior communication skills both written and verbal.
Self-motivated and self-starting.
Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in desktop software packages MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Knowledge of SAP considered a plus.
The employee must have good multitasking skills to handle multiple projects at one time.
Strong document management skills and attention to details
Understanding of manufacturing operations.
Ability to organize, schedule, facilitate and drive system and process improvement.
Working knowledge of U.S. FDA regulations, Hershey’s PEP, quality design principles, HACCP and GMP’s. Additional regional knowledge of pertinent GMP and/or HACCP regulations outside of the U.S. will be considered a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot and evaluate quality systems.
Capable of understanding varied manufacturing processes to include dairy, sweeteners, confectionery - chocolate and non-chocolate, cereal, tree nuts, ground nuts, raisins, flour, baking and warehousing.
Requires domestic and international travel up to 50%, sometimes with short notice.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
BS in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred, or equivalent related experience

Minimum of 2 years food or pharmaceutical industry quality assurance experience
