Job Summary

The Construction Management Director (CMD) is a leadership position for the construction management and engineering team. The CMD may manage specific projects on his/her own but is primarily responsible to make sure that the company’s portfolio of projects are coordinated and delivered with high quality, on time, and under budget.

Responsibilities

General

As a Construction Management Director, your responsibilities include mastery of the skills and responsibilities of a Construction Manager position (see Construction Manager job description), as well as the following:

  • Prepare construction manager staff forecasts and assign the appropriate construction manager or lead to each job
  • Help with technical solutions for all assigned construction managers
  • Understand and negotiate contract terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Manage tasking of construction management staff
  • Ensure high quality workmanship to EE performance standards and verify that all installations have been done correctly
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
  • Provide accurate revenue and cost forecasts for the portfolio of projects
  • Lead and host training sessions for construction management staff
  • Train and mentor remote construction managers in other areas or states
  • Adopt and develop organized systems for managing projects
  • Develop best-practice processes and procedures so that construction efforts result in predictable and repeatable quality for clients

Enabled Energy Application of this Role

As a Construction Management Director at Enabled Energy, your typical work duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
  • Facilitate construction manager interaction with the Business Development team to review constructability and pricing required to implement successful projects
  • Master Enabled Energy spreadsheets for pricing
  • Participate and/or lead fair negotiations of work scope, schedule, and pricing with contractors, clients, and Enabled Energy without aid of Enabled Energy management staff
  • Coordinate with the Finance/Admin manager on invoicing and billing procedures required to ensure Enabled Energy and its subcontractors and suppliers are paid in a timely manner
  • Provide monthly financial revenue and costs forecasts to Enabled Energy’s Finance/Admin manager
  • Advise Enabled Energy leadership on personnel decisions for assigned construction managers
  • Participate in Enabled Energy leadership team activities, as needed
  • Travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned
  • Travel outside of Colorado approximately 25%-40%

Technical Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as construction project manager
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Strong project management and supervision skills
  • Team player with decision making and leadership abilities
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
  • Ability to work with multiple discipline projects
  • Oral communication skills for group presentations and participate in meetings
  • Write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining quality across a portfolio of projects
  • Ability to calculate figures, costs, prices, gross margin, and total project amounts
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
  • Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
  • Familiarity with construction/project management software

Education

  • At least 10 years experience in data center and construction management or related fields
  • BS/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field
  • PMP or equivalent certification will be an advantage
  • Engineering background will be an advantage

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $110,000.00 to $150,000.00 /year
