RTI's Food, Nutrition, and Obesity Policy Research Group has an opening for an Associate Analyst position in our Research Triangle Park, NC office. The program conducts research to analyze and evaluate the effects of programs and policies affecting food, nutrition, and physical activity to improve public health and well-being. The program’s team of multidisciplinary researchers uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to help clients achieve their missions and address analytical challenges. As an Associate Analyst, you will function as an integral part of these teams, providing analytic and other support to senior staff researchers. You will conduct project tasks under the direction of senior team members, while developing an in-depth understanding of critical public health policy issues related to food and nutrition. You will also become proficient with analytic tools and research methods used by research organizations.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Assist with a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative economic, nutrition, food safety, and behavioral research activities.
Compile, merge, manipulate, and manage databases of moderate complexity using Excel or other database software.
Generate data tables and perform econometric and statistical analyses using Excel, SAS, or Stata.
Coordinate data collection activities and conduct in-person and telephone interviews with researchers and other stakeholders.
Provide technical assistance on data collection and reporting via site visits, webinars, conference calls, and email.
Conduct literature reviews to identify relevant information to inform and answer research questions.
Contribute to and/or prepare portions of technical memoranda, reports and presentations according to style and format requirements of the individual project (e.g., preparation of tables, figures, and report sections)
Attend RTI-sponsored presentations and learning seminars.
BA/BS with major or minor in Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or related social science field (May 2019 graduates will also be accepted).
Research, coursework or projects in areas such as health or behavioral economics, applied microeconomics, statistics, epidemiology, food and nutrition, or agriculture economics
Must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Experience with and interest in quantitative research and statistical programming packages, such as SAS or Stata.
Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Proficiency with MS Office suite.
