Our client provides insurance and reinsurance products worldwide, they offer insurance and reinsurance products for property lines and agriculture, accident and health, medical travel, aviation and space, marine, trade credit, contingency, casualty, surety, asbestos risks, environmental risks, and other long-tailed liability exposures, as well as administration services. They are also involved in the acquisition and management of runoff liabilities for insurance and reinsurance companies.
They are currently seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join their team in Manhattan, NYC. This position will start off 100% REMOTE, however you will be requried to work out of the of the NYC office as normal work conditions are in place.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This Senior Azure / AWS Cloud role will collaborate with the Infrastructure, Security and Application Development engineers during Architecture, design, and development phases, providing guidance, interpretation, and engineering expertise.
The role will additionally focus on the overall Cloud architecture design, cost effectiveness, quality of IT solution, knowledge transfer, and mentoring of the project technical team members.
Lastly, this role will be keenly aware of cloud computing industry trends with regards to technology and adoption while also being proficient in the understanding of and application of various automation related tools and languages.
In depth, practical experience with AWS, Azure and GCP Cloud methodologies to build leading-edge solutions.
Create and document Cloud Operation & Security standards with best practices for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, automation, orchestration, trends and industry-leading cloud vendor offerings
In Depth understanding of Azure, AWS, VPC, Cloud Security, EC2, S3 or equivalent cloud services.
In Depth experience with open source technologies like Git, Terraform, and Docker Containers.
Experience in architecting and implementing cloud-based solutions with robust Business Continuity and Disaster Recover requirements
Stay up to date with Azure & AWS cloud trends and information security community including new Cloud vulnerabilities, methodologies, and products.
Experience with open source technologies and environments
Contribute to Infrastructure Cloud roadmap
Build and perform analysis of Infrastructure-as- Service deployments
Perform triage of incoming issues using ticket tracking system.
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high demand environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates strong customer service awareness and orientation
Exemplifies leadership characteristics in support of client's corporate objectives
DESIRED QUALIFICIATIONS:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
3+ years hands on experience with automated tooling such as Chef and Test Kitchen
Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
Experience adopting Cloud security practices across an enterprise
Experience with container orchestration and service mesh technologies like Kubernetes, Envoy, and Consul
Experience in at least one programming language (Java, Python) is desired.
Previous experience implementing assigned controls from frameworks such as: CIS20, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, etc.
Practical experience working in DevOps team/organizations with applied Agile development practices
Azure & AWS Certified Solution Architect are required
Professional Security certifications: GIAC certifications, OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), or comparable is preferred.
