Norristown State Hospital is looking for a full-time Staff Psychiatrist. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, bonuses, paid vacation and sick time, prescription, hearing, dental and vision plans.

Full-time employment

Board Certification Bonus – bonuses are paid to full-time and part-time medical osteopathic physicians in all the specialties listed in the Commonwealth's contact, in accordance with eligibility criteria established by the state
Eligibility is limited to physicians whose regular duties are predominately within the specialty for which they are board certified, except for management-level employees, whose duties need not be within the board areas. Payments are made annually
Quality Assurance Bonuses – payments are made in accordance with eligibility criteria established by the state to recognize continued employment. Payments are pro-rated for part-time physicians, who must be employed at least 50% of the full-time schedule to qualify
Non-Management Level Physicians ONLY – compensation is paid for hours worked outside regularly scheduled hours in response to emergencies and for hours spent "on call"
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Incumbent would be responsible for all aspects of psychiatric care and treatment of assigned patients. Leader of the multidisciplinary treatment team. On occasions will provide coverage for other staff psychiatrists during their emergency or scheduled leave. Performs formal psychiatric assessment on admissions when applicable, as well as yearly comprehensive psychiatric assessments, and reviews all psychiatric diagnoses. Performs, on a monthly basis, psychiatric reviews of patients and documents in monthly progress notes, in accordance with Norristown State Hospital standards. Reviews medication on monthly basis and as necessary making adjustments and/or changes to ensure proper psychopharmacological treatment is applied to each individual patient. Completes all documentation using the format and content approved by the Medical Staff within the NSH and departmental policies and standards. Responsible for psychiatric transfer notes in compliance with hospital standards, when applicable. Dictates discharge summaries in a timely manner in accordance with hospital requirements. Reviews and presents difficult cases to supervising psychiatrist and/or to psychiatric staff for consultation. This may include presentation at Physicians Forum. Participates in Building Performance Improvement Programs and hospital-wide PI programs. Attends building and hospital-wide meetings.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications:
PA residency currently waived for this title
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements – Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry
Necessary Special Requirement – Possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners
Must be able to perform essential job functions
