Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides technical support to Manufacturing Technicians, Value Stream Leaders and Engineers in areas such as production, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
- Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems.
- Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures defined by the company safety program and OSHA regulations to eliminate work related injuries.
- Practices Lean principles and participates in Kaizen events and continuous improvement projects.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of plant production and/or support equipment, and related processes.
- Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical)
- Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield
- Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventative and unscheduled maintenance)
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses difficult, infrequent problems with equipment
- Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures
- Consistently adheres to established processes and technical procedures while performing prescribed semi-skilled maintenance or repair tasks independently or by assisting skilled technicians to ensure that plant equipment and systems meet production and quality standards.
- Able to identify basic equipment malfunctions independently. Performs repairs/adjustments per standard methods to resolve problems.
- Completes assignments in an orderly and expeditious manner by taking necessary safety precautions as well as understanding and adherence to established company/departmental policies.
- Continuously learns and applies skills and procedures while performing progressively more difficult, hazardous and technical duties related to the maintenance, modification and installation of the plant equipment and systems.
- Trains Manufacturing Technicians in basic PM activities and use of related tools and equipment.
- Accepts and requests increasing levels of responsibility.
- Performs standard inspections and PM’s on plant production and ancillary equipment.

Experience/Education
- HS diploma or GED required; Associates degree or technical certifications preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- 2+ years relevant training in one or more maintenance trades, specifically mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, PLC controls, robotics and pneumatics.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet or database software preferred.
- Previous experience training and/or leading others desired.
- Experience working for a bedding manufacturer and/or knowledge of sewing equipment a plus.
Job Factors/Work Environments
- Must stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours per day or longer in overtime situations as required. Also must be able to lift heavy product or raw materials up to 120 pounds multiple times per hour during an 8-hour shift or longer in overtime situations to meet customer demand. Heavy loads must be team-lifted. A workplace that maintains integrity of make-to-order system is required.
- Safety-focused, fast-paced manufacturing plant engaged in Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement.
- Work environment includes a clean and safe work area and exposure to high noise decibels, hot raw materials, fire-retardant materials, and limited chemicals.
- Personal Protective Equipment is required to be worn for any hazards and is supplied by the company.
