The Radiation Therapist, under the direction of a radiation oncologist, performs a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation. A strong applicant must be computer savvy, able to multitask, work well under pressure, and have excellent communication skills. Detail oriented, excels in a busy clinic, independent, strong technical skills, first level critical thinking and problem solving, self-confident, good teamwork skills, and a self-starter.


  • Prepare treatment room and equipment according to patients’ setup instructions
  • Reviews patients’ chart for patient identification, consent, overall treatment plan, and dose prescription
  • Correctly positions patient for radiation treatment
  • Correctly sets up monitors for radiation treatment
  • Performs daily warm-up on equipment and reports malfunctions
  • Performs diodes on patients as needed
  • Schedules patient treatment appointment
  • Stocks treatment room
  • Performs treatments with brachytherapy procedures such as skin, breast and vaginal cylinders
  • May be asked to work in non-regular clinic hours if necessary for urgent/emergent patient care at other centers
  • Provides appropriate patient education and support as related to study requested
  • Assures patient charges are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Aria EHR, Varian TrueBeam, HDR, Cyberknife, SRS, SBRT, IGRT, CBCT, Hyperarc and GE CT Scanner

  • BLS (Preferred)
  • Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program. ARRT (Required)
  • Arizona Department of Health Services, Arizona Certification (Required)
