Job Summary:
The Clinical Assistant (CA) is managed by the Patient Care Manager. CA person is under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Clinical Assistant participates in providing total direct patient care in a team approach, and must have the ability to work therapeutically in a community of emotionally and/or chemical dependent patients. Primary responsibilities include: providing basic patient care and procedures, observing patients and maintaining patient safety, assisting patients with activities of daily living (both physical and emotional), obtaining, recording, and reporting vital signs to appropriate staff member, and meeting team objectives. Additional responsibilities include: transporting patients to and from activities in a timely manner; observing patients taking their medication and then documenting accordingly, and all other duties as assigned. This employee should demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age and behavioral health issues of the patients served. Daily job duties will be guided by the knowledge of the principles of growth and development. The Clinical Assistant must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify and provide the care needed. This employee be responsible for as-needed assigned duties and tasks.
Performance Expectations:
- Demonstrates thorough, concise and timely documentation, shift reports and verbal communication.
- Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members.
- Maintains own clinical skills, ongoing competencies, and all assigned trainings/certifications. Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for assigned unit’s population by rendering professional care including obtaining blood sugars, restraints, suicide precautions, bathing, dressing, ambulating, and feeding patients.
- Demonstrates the aptitude for safely positioning and/or assisting the nurse to safely position the patient using a variety of devices, walkers, and crutches.
- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection control and compliance standards.
- Consistently follows patient care and FGH policy, procedures and standards of care in performing duties.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Work Experience:
Two years of experience in health care setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Valid Driver's License and good Standing Driving Record
