The audio team at Facebook is looking for exceptional research interns to help us improve the audio experience on Facebook. The team develops spatial audio technology, tools and codecs that power videos on Facebook and Oculus. Expertise in 3D or spatial audio, audio research, acoustics, signal processing, psychoacoustics, and computer science are especially appreciated. Strong math skills are a plus. We are accepting applications from students interested in (but not limited to) the following areas: Audio, Spatial Audio, Audio for VR, 3D audio, Ambisonics, Codecs, Signal processing, Acoustics, Psychoacoustics.
Design and implementation of novel algorithms to solve applied audio research problems
Collaboration with and support of other team members across various disciplines
Communication of research agenda, progress and results
Pursuing a PhD or Masters degree in Computer Science, Audio/Acoustics, or related STEM field
Must be currently enrolled in a full time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship
Proven track record of achieving significant results
Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2018
Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or PhD papers
Experience with C/C++, MATLAB
