The Director, Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies will lead a core team of IT and Business disruptors in the research, development, incubation and adoption of the next generation of digital capabilities to include Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Process Automation, blockchain, virtual and augmented reality, Industrial Internet of Things, RPA, etc.. Working closely with stakeholders, business partners, domain product owners and development teams the Director, Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies will bring new and innovative AR/VR, Blockchain, IoT and software enabled automation (RPA capabilities) to our stakeholders, enabling the broader WestRock emerging technology strategy and roadmap, building awareness of capabilities, creating strong relationships to develop roadmaps and approaches to ensure scale.
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have a strong technology foundation and exemplary change management, leadership abilities and experience in both introducing and scaling above mentioned digital capabilities.
The Director, Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies will:
Be responsible for the research, development, piloting, evaluation and scaling of AR/VR, Blockchain, IoT and software enabled automation (RPA) projects.
Lead emerging technology transformation strategy, roadmap and operational model including accountability for the product strategy, technology roadmaps, requirements definition, functional designs and deployment of assigned products.
Create external partnerships to continuously learn, engage, pilot and deploy emerging technology solutions in agreed upon digital focus areas.
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver features and major modules of complex solutions/products,
Assist project teams in estimating the architecture design effort and in developing/ reviewing/ approving architecture designs.
Provide recommendations to the VP, Technology Transformation for long-term strategic plans to accomplish Enterprise IT goals.
Define and communicate the product management methodology, guidelines, tools and practices.
Create architectures for large scale, high-impact, or high-cost technology solutions by collaborating with other architects to develop the target state.
Review and contribute to architecture standards or controls which allow business needs to be met.
Lead the development of solution architectures, roadmaps, and system transition plans to align business, applications, data, integration, and/or infrastructure architecture.
Anticipate and identify issues, and provide recommendations to address roadblocks and areas of opportunity

Understand and advocate for market, customer and business stakeholder needs to ensure we are building the right product functionality at the right time to deliver maximum value to our customers and business
Fulfill the duties of a product owner on an agile development team, including requirements definition, story writing, backlog prioritization, and feature roadmap creation
Partner with business stakeholder teams to identify objectives, determine initiative scope, and document requirements. Review and approve large requirements (Epics) and smaller requirements (Stories) based on feature strategy
Embrace the concept of continuous iteration and negotiating with various business and IT solutions partners on delivering a Minimal Viable Product (MVP) to gain customer insights and other performance KPIs to influence future development cycles
Collaborate with stakeholders and development teams throughout the product development lifecycle
Maintain a product scorecard to measure and report on the success of the experience.
What you need to succeed:
Master’s degree or higher in Product Management, Information Systems, Business, Communications, or other relevant areas
10+ years’ work experience in an IT Product Management. Global company experience highly preferred and needed to be successful.
7+ years leadership experience, managing local and virtual teams (demonstrated success in “middle management role”)
4+ years’ experience with AR/VR, RPA, Blockchain, IOT and Technical Business Management platforms
Experience designing, building, implementing enterprise business solutions with a track record of product management success at senior levels
Demonstrated ability to develop frameworks to build demand pipelines with clear articulation of financial / strategic value.
Public/private cloud environments (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) Experience with demonstrating as a visionary and strategist for providing solutions for a product area
Success in designing and facilitating requirements elicitation sessions including use of interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, business process outcome modeling, personas, user centric design, task and workflow analysis
CSPO Certification highly desirable
Experience with working in an Agile development environment
Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills
A consultancy approach to your work and the ability to work independently and multi-task
Ability to troubleshoot technical and non-technical problems
Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams without direct report relationships
