Summary:
Under general supervision of Assistant Controller, fulfills all accounting functions for the Beebe Physician Network. The Senior Accountant must exhibit a strong knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applies these principles in all aspects of work. Exhibits strong knowledge of accounting theory in preparation and review of financial statements, including cash flow statements. Applies accounting theory to difficult or unusual accounting transactions or issues. Assists the Controller and Assistant Controller with other functions of the hospital's financial operation.

Responsibilities:
Adequately documents basis for accounting conclusions, citing appropriate GAAP. Researches GAAP and develops application of theory as necessary, particularly with respect to new pronouncements. Maintains Internal Control systems and actively ensures their effectiveness by developing and maintaining systems of logs and records of financial or statistical activity to support accounting entries, information, and reports. Develops spreadsheets, analytical models, reports, and journal entry templates with cross checks to other appropriate data sources to ensure accuracy of outcomes. Reviews data and questions validity as appropriate to ensure completeness and accuracy. Interacts with departmental personnel to ensure accounting results are consistent with operational activity/information. Maintains adequate historical records to ensure complete audit trails are available for accounting transactions. Provides assistance and support to external auditors. The Senior Accountant performs complex analyses utilizing advanced spreadsheet skills to collect, maintain and analyze financial and statistical data. Clearly highlights and reports results of analyses. Performs analysis of actual and budget data. Utilizes standard financial analytical constructs (ratio analysis, ROI, lease/buy) in analysis. Performs comparative analyses of statistical and financial information to identify accounting solutions to complex or unusual issues, and to highlight areas for management attention. Assists in projection of financial information and in completion of budget detail based on historical trends and known operating variables. Exhibits thorough knowledge of financial systems and sub-system interfaces, and traces general ledger transactions through to sub-systems to ensure accurate and appropriate system-generated activity. Prepares and posts routine journal entries. Also prepares and posts correcting entries required as a result of a reconciliation or analysis which may include complex or unusual transactions. Performs ad-hoc projects routinely to enhance level of finance service available to departmental and executive management. Acts as a resource to departmental management for accounting advice and analysis. Develops presentations and reports of financial information and effectively communicates results with non-accounting management personnel. Beebe Medical Group specific: Prepares, analyzes and reviews RVU calculations for BPNI practices. Prepares annual budget. Analyzes and reconciles all balance sheet accounts monthly. OR General Accounting specific: Reviews physician services agreements pertaining to medical directorships and call pay. Reviews physician recruitment agreements pertaining to physician and physician practice guarantees. Reviews addendums to these agreements to ensure payment to physicians and physician practices are in adherence to their contracts, work with executive office / directors / managers to resolve any discrepancies. Track and reconcile actual payments to there contracts.
