YOUR ROLE ON OUR TEAM:
- Lead guided tours for school groups, ensuring a fun and educational experience for students
- Conduct interactive and engaging presentations about farm animals, farming practices, and environmental topics
- Adapt communication style to suit different ages and learning abilities of guests
- Ensure safety and supervision of students, teachers, and guests during the tour
- Manage group dynamics and maintain a positive and organized atmosphere
- Answer questions and provide information about the farm and its attractions
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient tour experience
- Assist with tour preparations for set-up and end-of-tour clean up and closing
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to engage and interact with children of various ages and backgrounds
- Knowledge of agriculture, farming practices, and environmental topics helpful
- Ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly, patient, and energetic demeanor
- Ability to work with groups of varying sizes and ages
- Basic first aid and emergency response training helpful
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Tours will take place outdoors on a farm on gravel, mulch, grass, and dirt walking paths
- Guides will be required to stand and walk for extended periods
- Weather conditions may vary, including heat, rain, and cold temperatures
TOUR GUIDE SHIFT OPTIONS:
- Wednesdays, (and possibly Thursdays, and Fridays)
- Shifts start at 7:30 am, 7:45 am, 8:00 am, 8:30 am, and 8:45 am
- Shifts end at 1:30 pm, 1:45 pm, 2:00 pm, and 2:30 pm
JOB-TYPE:
This is a part-time, seasonal position. Tour Guides typically work 6 hours per week. We are working to expand guided-tours to include Thursdays and Fridays but this will depend on staffing so there could be an option to add Thursdays and Fridays; however, most of our tour guides will opt to cross-train in another area if wanting to pick-up additional hours.
This is an excellent opportunity for a stay-at-home parent wanting to earn some extra money while their child is in school as the shifts occur within the school day in between morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
