To expand a credible and lasting voice within gaming, Red Bull North America is upleveling our program of identification, acquisition, development, and marketing of top gaming talent. Some key goals of this program are to elevate the standards of development of professional players, at the same time authentically increase the standing of competitive gaming with a broader audience. To help achieve boundary-pushing results, a key program resource is a partnership with Red Bull’s highly innovative athlete/human high-performance department. Additionally, it utilizes in-house training and broadcast facilities to enhance development, and to produce high quality content programming. The Athlete Manager - Gaming will own the management and growth of this program in its entirety.

Strategy and Planning

Maintain an intimate knowledge of the global competitive gaming landscape (i.e., relevant titles, industry trends, players, teams, etc.) to inform Red Bull’s overall Esports athletes and teams strategy and related projects

Develop a scalable player/team identification, acquisition, sponsorship, management and development program that embraces high performance to create a leading Red Bull brand identity and narrative within the competitive gaming scene

Partner with Red Bull High Performance teams to institute proven athletic performance improvement models, training techniques and technologies for the Esports athlete roster

Define clear objectives, goals and KPI’s for Esports athletes and overall program performance, activations, community impact and media engagement

Partner with Red Bull Media House teams to incorporate talent into content objectives and identify new content opportunities

Build and responsibly manage detailed project plans, budgets and status updates across cross-functional teams for all Esports athlete projects, competitions and activations

Act as primary liaison for Esports athlete program to ensure full visibility and alignment across all Red Bull stakeholders, third party partners and vendors

Talent Development

Lead athlete, team, and Esports talent discovery by creating a formalized evaluation process spanning the acquisition of established top-ranked players to burgeoning talent at the local level

Negotiate Esports athlete agreements and contracts including performance expectations and terms, content and social media commitments, compensation model, bonus structure, branding rights, availability and schedule

Onboard new Esports athletes (including deep Red Bull brand, product usage and communications training), set and monitor performance goals and management plans

Work with the Red Bull High Performance team to evaluate and evolve Esports athlete environments (e.g., team houses, Red Bull Esports training facility), support networks (e.g., mentors, trainers, coaches, family) and development tools (e.g., nutrition and fitness programs, technology and data innovations, competitive simulations and boot-camps)

Support and monitor athlete preparations, travel and presence at Esports competitions or related activations to enable success and ensure premium representation of the Red Bull brand

Continually monitor overall Esports athlete roster to recognize early-stage performance issues and provide ongoing feedback/guidance related to performance improvement, personality and style

Define and own overall Esports athlete experience, itinerary and schedule at Red Bull owned and supported events

Marketing Outcomes

Develop and execute innovative Esports athlete projects and activations that establish Red Bull as an aspirational force and thought leader within gaming

Create comprehensive branding and product integration solutions and guidelines for all Esports athletes using new and innovative design and visibility formats

Partner with content production, programming and communications teams to develop Esports athlete focused, story-driven media formats, sponsored athlete and third party channels (e.g., gaming media and influencers)

Collaborate with marketing, brand, sales, distribution, media, communications, content production and programming, live event and digital teams to develop and execute integrated consumer marketing campaigns related to Esports athlete projects, competitions and activations

Leverage Esports athletes and activations to establish Red Bull as an authentic participant in competitive gaming activities (e.g., gaming-related “can in hand” and consumption)

Design and deploy activation guidelines, templates and toolkits for use by regional teams to activate Esports athletes within local markets
3-5 years of professional experience in the Esports industry, preferably within athlete/team management or marketing related field

Deep understanding of competitive gaming landscape including relevant game titles and publishers/developers, Esports athletes and teams, community gatherings and conferences, industry players, gaming media, key events and technology developments

Solid understanding of Esports live competition and broadcast formats, online platforms and related audiences

Creative thinker with proven ability to design, document and efficiently communicate compelling Esports athlete program strategies, tactics and projects

Experience with the design and execution of integrated athlete marketing campaigns and activations

Strong project management skills with ability to drive planning, schedules, budgeting, resource management, collaboration and status reporting

Driven sense of ownership and accountability with keen ability to know what needs to be done
