As a Staff Accountant, you will play an integral part in establishing and implementing financial processes for West Chester Protective Gear. Staff Accountant maintains and controls certain General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
The ideal candidate will have strong initiative to identify opportunities for improvement as well as design and implement those improvements. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work with a broad range of people with different backgrounds and perspectives, as well the ability to comfortably work with people in other functions or external to the company (vendors and customers).
Assist with the day-to-day, monthly and year-end operations of the Accounting/ Finance Department.
Prepare general ledger entries by maintaining records and files.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Calculate, adjust, and process sales commissions.
Assist with Accounts payable functions and review to ensure all invoices are accurately reported into the general ledger.
Assist with preparation of financial statements and reporting packages by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system.
Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Assist in developing accounting policies and internal procedures, including analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.
Assist with the annual budgeting process by compiling and analyzing data.
Complete other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.
Minimum of 3-5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in mid to large company.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required.
Strong communication skills and be detail oriented with the ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment.
Able to apply consistent standards while adapting to frequent changes in Company requirements.
Be flexible and able to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Strong Microsoft Excel, and Word skills are required. Experience with Eclipse is a plus.
