We are seeking a highly organized and motivated individual to provide comprehensive operational support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This role is crucial to ensuring the COO operates efficiently and can focus on strategic initiatives. This role is a behind-the-scenes leader who supports and moves work forward on behalf of the COO. In this position, a successful person will leverage keen problem-solving skills while navigating a complex organizational structure to achieve results. This role is based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters and reports to the VP, Knowledge Systems.
- Engagement with Formal and Advisory Boards: Oversee the programmatic approach to engaging board members, including managing meeting agendas, material preparation, meeting execution, and follow-up. This includes liaising with board members and delegates as needed.

Enterprise-wide Strategic Planning Process: Lead the overall strategic planning process, harmonizing timelines across operational functions (HR, Legal, Finance, etc.) and business-specific processes while proactively escalating any issues or challenges.

Strategic Project Management: Manage and track long-term projects critical to the COO's objectives. Assist the COO with special projects and research needs, breaking down large projects into manageable tasks and tracking progress.

Coordinating Operational Support for the COO: Ensure consistent prioritization and smooth execution of projects and initiatives as opportunities change. Coordinate critical business processes such as strategic planning, annual financial forecasting, and compensation for departments reporting to the COO.

Facilitate Strategic Discussions: Manage the cadence, agendas, and logistics for leadership and interdepartmental meetings on behalf of the COO.

Formal and Informal Leadership: Provide oversight of projects that do not fall within the organizational structure or involve multiple stakeholders from disparate teams.

Executive Connection: Serve as a right-hand partner for the COO and a point of contact for business leaders, helping to move work forward and remove roadblocks within the office of the COO. Act as a strong partner with the COO’s Executive Assistant.

Minimum 6 years of experience in consulting, business transformation, operations, or as a Chief of Staff.

Experience partnering across operational functions such as finance, legal, infrastructure, and human resources.

Proven ability to operate at tactical, strategic, and operational levels within a complex, mid to large sized organization

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and executive presence

Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills

Ability to consistently prioritize multiple competing deadlines and tasks

A high sensitivity to confidentiality and discretion
