Quality and Passion are at the heart of Maison Kayser, and you will lead a team with your professionalism, passion for our product, and quality driven leadership style. In conjunction with other Managers, you will be responsible for hiring, developing, terminating, and generally holding all team members accountable for their work. You are also responsible for profitability, expense control, inventory control, purchasing/merchandising, regulatory compliance and special projects assigned. We are looking for individuals who will lead our teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of store operations and perform duties and responsibilities of team positions as necessary
  • Demonstrate and ensure the highest quality guest service by effectively following the Maison Kayser steps of service as well as handling guest complaints until total guest satisfaction is achieved
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, developing, and counseling all employees in a manner that builds and sustains a high performing team and minimize turnover
  • Build a capable, confident management team and develop them to manage a great store
  • Create an appropriate store schedule in line with business needs
  • Ensure every employee of the store has individual development plans, communicated throughout their employment
  • Effectively communicate all relevant information to the management and store employees so that it is understood and implemented
  • Communicate, represent, and uphold Maison Kayser values and business philosophy regularly with all employees as needed
  • Handle disciplinary action, transfers, promotions, rate increases, and overall annual review process for all employees within the location
  • Build and sustain a positive work environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect,, and exceptional morale
  • Customer Service & Product Quality
  • Ensure Team Members are providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure the management team is continually focused on fulfilling Excellent Service requirements as identified in their job description
  • Consistently view the store from a customer perspective and challenge key leaders to do the same
  • Open and close the store as planned; assure that all security procedures are followed

  • Manage and oversee the entire purchasing and inventory process
  • Ensure implementation of all agreed standards with product, service, and systems
  • Manage new menu launch from updating forecasts, communicating changes to a team, and coordinating all necessary training
  • Ensure the management team is continually focused on fulfilling the "Quality Food, Bread, Pastry, and Coffee" requirements as identified in Maison Kayser standards (manual)
  • Help coordinate and supervise physical inventory process
  • Work with the management team to be passionate and knowledgeable about the quality and freshness of our food, bread, pastry, and coffee
  • Constantly monitor and review products for quality and take appropriate measures to address any issues with quality and make necessary improvements

Health & Safety

  • Regularly inspect store to assure standards are maintained at all times
  • Always keep all areas of stores clean while operating business and provide regular feedback to night porters to make necessary improvements
  • Know/learn and maintain compliance with relevant regulatory rules, standards, and licenses
  • Ensure Team Members are properly trained in safe work practices and procedures
  • Own the store's maintenance process: notifying maintenance team and following up to make sure issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety and Food Safety practices adhere to current legislation and Maison Kayser standards
  • Ensure the management team is continually focused on fulfilling Store Profitability requirements
  • Fully understand your store's operating model and ensure your store is complying with the model principles
  • Monitor and review store performance and facilitate improvements
  • Work with Corporate as needed, to review and help establish store and department sales, labor, and gross profit goals. Communicate goals and hold all Managers accountable
  • Understand your annual sales, plan and forecast to maximize sales opportunities
  • Plan ahead for peak trading periods, events, and seasonal changes
  • Benchmark against similar, high-performing stores in order to build a network with other GMs and share best practices
  • Have a strategic sales growth plan in place to drive business
  • Forecast labor management intelligently in order to drive sales
  • Plan holidays effectively to manage employees' schedules and maximize business potential

Requirements:

  • College degree is preferred. Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management is desirable. A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a General Manager/ Restaurant role
  • A Passion for food and restaurant operations and a desire to make an impact on customers and business
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Identifying the developmental needs of employees, and developing/executing training goals
  • A "can do" work ethic and the ability to be a role model
  • Ability to adapt and succeed in a fast-paced environment
