Job Details
The Curriculum and Instruction Teacher (CIT) is a teacher leader who promotes student and teacher growth in learning and teaching. The CIT works collaboratively with teachers to implement quality research instruction that is differentiated for student needs. The CIT works extensively with teachers to develop lessons integrating the Standards for Elementary Practice. The CIT will follow a coaching cycle with classroom teachers by planning, modeling, and collaborating. The CIT must possess knowledge of child growth and development and especially of characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned. CITs should be aware of current trends, research and best practices related to elementary instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s): Elementary 1-6
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree preferred.
- SEI Endorsement
- Strong district lens regarding EL, curriculum, and equity
- Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
- Experience in urban district/setting preferred
- Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning and implementing standards-based lesson planning with clear objectives
- Modeling and coaching effective teaching strategies and techniques
- Providing appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socioeconomic levels and cultural backgrounds
- Using a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and needs
- Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
- Using a variety of formative assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction
- Working with teachers to implement district assessments and guide classroom instructional interventions based on data analysis
- Assessing levels of student achievement effectively, analyze data, and prescribe actions for improvement
- Providing a motivating and stimulating, safe, and supportive learning environment
- Adapting lessons for individual, small group, and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students
- Integrating technology in the planning and delivery of instruction
- Communicating orally and in writing with students, parents, and others
- Working collaboratively and cooperatively with teachers in planning instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners
- Participating in school-wide professional development activities
- Attending Professional Learning Time meetings
- Performing duties as requested by principals
- Communicating high standards and expectations for all student
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- As negotiated with Lynn School Committee and Lynn Teachers Union.
