Oklahoma Spine Hospital is a physician owned hospital established in 1999 that specializes in spine care. Our 25 bed Patient Care Unit provides care to patients following cervical/thoracic/lumbar surgical interventions.

Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Care Unit
Under the direction of the Clinical Operations Officer and the Department Manager, this position provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures of Oklahoma Spine Hospital. In collaboration with the patient, the patient's family and other members of the health care team, the clinical RN assesses, plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates all aspects of patient care for assigned patients.
- Provides for patient safety, comfort, physical and emotional needs with dignity following scope of practice.
- Performs assessments of patients utilizing the nursing process. Critically thinks to identify abnormalities and utilizes resources appropriately, i.e.: physician, anesthesia provider, other departments and staff.
- Documents nursing care and patient status in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care completely, accurately and in a legible manner in the patients' record.
- Administers medication and performs procedures as ordered by physician in compliance with hospital policies and within scope of practice.
- Is accountable for the patient/family education in collaboration with the medical care/nursing team. Takes appropriate action to ensure understanding.
- Responds appropriately to irregularities and/or emergency situations through initiation of Rapid Response team and/or ACLS protocol.
- Maintains Critical Skills and Equipment Skills as defined for designated assignment/roles. Is knowledgeable and follows process for care and maintenance of equipment.
- Supervises and/or provides all nursing care provided to an assigned patient population. Any delegated care is based on the abilities and limitations of care personnel and patient acuity.
- Contributes to the productivity and professional environment of the department and facility. Demonstrates competent professional practice and engages in opportunities for professional growth.
- Collaborates and communicates with the medical care/nursing team and other departments, including ancillary services.
- Supports the concept of Continuous Quality Improvement by utilizing the techniques and processes to solve problems.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- No experience necessary. New grads welcome.
- Current unrestricted licensure in the State of Oklahoma as a registered nurse; current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS required within 90 Days of employment.
- Effective communication skills; both orally and written. Computer skills required.
- Ability to manage assigned patients' care and work together with peers & other departments.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
