Design analog and digital hardware solutions for our trapped ion quantum computer control systems. Provide technical leadership in the development of high performance board and system level assemblies - from concept to production. Perform top level requirements definition, system specification, block and component level design and analysis.
Contribute to the design of the top-level control system architecture
Lead the development of electronics for driving piezoelectric actuators, DC servo motors, and stepper motors for position control
Design low noise power supplies for low voltage (<24V) and high voltage (>200V)
Simulation and modelling of analog and digital control electronics
Design schematics, board layouts, generate drawings, BOMs, and documentation
Write test plans and procedures. Test and troubleshoot analog and digital electronics.
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
>10 years of experience with electronics design for control applications
Extensive experience with motion control DSP-based electronics and PID control.
Detailed knowledge of circuit board design, fabrication, and assembly processes
Schematic capture with Altium Designer (preferred), OrCAD, or Allegro
Detailed knowledge of circuit simulation and modeling tools
Proficient with complex laboratory test equipment and measurement techniques
Familiarity with opto-mechanical systems
Understanding of EMI, EMC, ESD standards and implementation.
Experience with fast-paced commercial product development
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and manage time effectively
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively with cross functional teams
Ability to mentor junior engineers.
