Edge High School Northwest is seeking a talented and creative mathematics teacher. EDGE (Educational Group Effort) High School is the oldest charter school in Pima County. Bachelor’s Degree in Edcuation, Math or related field
One year teaching experience at the secondary level preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Thorough knowledge of assigned instructional areas
Valid and current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
Models the character traits of respect, responsibility, caring, trust, fairness and citizenship
Respects and incorporates the benefits of cultural diversity in the school
Strives to motivate students to excel
Provide 1-on-1 and small group instruction in mathematics ranging from remedial courses through Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry.
Ascertain interests and learning profiles of students
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Teach goal setting strategies
Monitor academic progress and provide academic and behavioral interventions as needed
Create and maintain and classroom environment built around safety, mutual respect, high expectations.
Active participation in various professional learning communities
Utilize Galileo Assessment system for prescriptive and benchmark testing
Meet bi-monthly with administrative team to review student progress
Collect, analyze, and use, both classroom level and school level data to drive instruction
Pursue professional learning opportunities to improve craft
Dialogue with instructional coaches and administration regularly
Corrects student work in a timely manner
Provides ongoing feedback to students regarding quality/accuracy of work
Maintains classroom discipline
Assesses student academic progress
Identifies skill deficiencies and strengths
Is responsible for condition and location of all instructional materials
Contacts parents as needed

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Physically demands require the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, walk around 60% of the day. Must be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of time and push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.
Majority of work performed in a general office environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus nontraditional hours required to perform job duties. Also requires participation and attendance at organization-sponsored events and meetings.
