The Ohio Super Computer Center (OSC) seeks a Client Engineer to support the overall mission of the group and in particular maintains relationships with select clients and provides advanced support in their expertise domain. OSC provides high performance computing (HPC) services for Ohio’s university researchers and industrial clients. The HPC Client Services Group delivers the client experience at OSC through outreach, engagement, administrative services and technical services.

The Client Engineer is responsible for maintaining relationships with select clients and providing advanced support in their expertise domain; reaching out to clients regularly to ensure satisfaction with services and understanding and advising clients about the OSC service catalog; collaborating with the client community and participating in long-range planning for OSC. This person also assists with processing level 2 incidents and service requests, and level 3 incidents related to services supporting their domain expertise. This role participates in Center training activities, creating and maintaining content and delivering training sessions. Additionally, this person participates in project work around the improvement of existing services and the delivery of new ones and participates in related nationwide discussions and workshops.

Work Environment and Culture: The Client Engineer will report to the HPC Client Services Manager at the Ohio Technology Consortium (OH-TECH) main office located on The Ohio State University’s West Campus. OH-TECH functions as an umbrella organization for Ohio’s statewide technology infrastructure which includes: The Ohio Supercomputer Center (OSC), the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet), and OhioLINK. Funded by the Ohio General Assembly through the Ohio Department of Higher Education, OH-TECH reports to the Chancellor for the Ohio Department of Higher Education. All fiscal and legal services are provided by the Ohio State University, with direction from the Vice President of Research. To plan for future acquisitions and services, OH-TECH relies upon the guidance of the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the advice of committees to achieve and sustain national eminence. The Ohio Supercomputer Center provides supercomputing, cyberinfrastructure, research and educational resources to a diverse state and national community, including education, academic research, industry and state government. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or other STEM field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; at least one year of experience with advanced programming in MATLAB, Python, R, or C/C++. Familiarity with Linux. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excellent writing and communication skills. Eligible to work in an export-controlled environment.

Desired Qualifications
Master’s in computer science, engineering or other STEM field with equivalent experience, or a degree in clinical, biomedical, health, or other life sciences coupled with significant experience in a computational environment. Proficient with Linux. Teaching or training experience. Extensive experience with MATLAB, Python, R, or C/C++. Experience using large-scale HPC clusters.
