Start your career in education, psychology, and/or social work while still in college or beyond.

As a Registered Behavior Technician (commonly called a Behavior Therapist), you will work directly and most often one-on-one with children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other similar diagnoses. Under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you will learn how an individualized behavior plan and the therapy it prescribes can transform the lives of truly exceptional and wonderful kids!

Cathie Christmas, MEd, BCBA, has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or special education for over 20 years. Cathie started Innovations Developmental Solutions (IDS) to fulfill her dream of creating the best ABA clinic that her vast experience can provide. She opened a center in Longmont, Colorado followed by a second center in Broomfield, Colorado. With the help of Lisa Miller, MA, BCBA, who runs the Longmont center - as well as a fantastic team of Behavior Therapists - IDS has become one of Colorado's fastest growing ABA practices and serves dozens of families affected by autism and similar diagnoses. IDS will never get too big; Cathie will continue to know every client and every parent or guardian that IDS serves.

ABA therapy (or "behavior therapy") is covered by most major health insurance carriers. It uses the scientific principle of relying on carefully collected data and careful, deliberate facilitation of fun and educational activities with clients. Behavior Therapists facilitate the activities and collect the resulting data regarding the client's change in behavior, or lack thereof. The data demonstrates which methods work best with each child to help them achieve functional goals.

Through this continual and frequent therapy, clients can make significant gains in their ability to engage, participate, and thrive in the world in which they live. Parents are grateful and relieved to have found ABA along a journey that has usually been the challenge of their lifetime as parents/guardians of children with such special needs.

As a Behavior Therapist, you not only improve the lives of the clients; The entire family benefits from the child/adolescent's newly gained skills and knowledge!

The successful candidate will provide the following services to a child/adolescent in our centers and occasionally in their home:

-Provide ABA instruction part time, using an individualized curriculum created by the BCBA.

-Session preparation including the creation (printing, drawing, laminating, etc) of materials to support the behavior program for your client.

-Participate in daily communication with parents regarding their child’s progress and behavior.

-Collect and analyze skill acquisition and behavior data, with oversight and supervision provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Qualifications and Requirements for selected candidates include:

-Experience working with children (typical or with disabilities).

-Some experience preferred working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

-High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred. (Any academic major considered.)

-Reliable transportation, and a track record of reliability.

-Creativity, multitasking, high-energy, flexibility and patience.

-Great communication skills, and an understanding of why continual and clear communication matters in a professional practice like ours.

-Must be available for at least two consistent days every week, and everyone MUST be available 9am-4pm Saturdays, our busiest day of the week.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT: You will be asked to provide your weekly availability. Once this has been submitted, scheduling commitments to client families will be solidified.

***If you have trouble living up to such commitments, perhaps ABA is not the right field for you.***

Benefits for the selected candidates:

-Free RBT training, $500 bonus and a raise if you finish the online training within your first six weeks (online coursework completed on your own time). You pay for the exam (about $95), and you get to keep the certification (some companies pay the fee but do not let you take your cert with you if you quit). Already have an RBT cert? We will still give you the raise and bonus (ask for details).

-Flat rate of pay no matter what you are doing on the clock including session prep time, driving time if you are scheduled for back-to-back sessions that require driving to another location (plus a mileage reimbursement), or even helping your team clean up at the end of a day. Many ABA practices will only pay your highest rate for billable hours (direct with client), but we respect that your time is ALWAYS valuable and deserves to be rewarded.

-Option to work your scheduled hours even when clients cancel last minute, or we might give you the option to take that day off (unpaid) instead.

-Need to log supervised direct therapy hours to qualify to sit for the BCBA exam? Not only do we charge you nothing for this, you will be paid for this time at your full pay rate.

-Growth opportunities to develop into being a trainer, lead, and/or BCaBA or BCBA with our company if you choose that career path. We hope you do!

-Transparent operations of our company including a clear and publicly posted payscale that rewards employee personal achievements like graduating from college and completing RBT training.

-Two centers to work at (Broomfield and Longmont) with some in-home opportunities as well.

-No 1099's - you are an employee, not a contractor. So we handle tax withholding. This means you get to keep more of your earnings!

-Flexible schedules that accommodate any college/university courses you are currently enrolled in.

-Automatic pay raises every six months (not including extended time-off taken).

-Occasional raises for the whole company as clientele and revenue grows. We LOVE to do this and look forward to doing it again!

The single biggest reason that you should apply to become a Behavior Therapist with Innovations Developmental Solutions is that our team is AWESOME!! You will work with great people making the world a better place for one client at a time... one family at the time... and with positive results that will last a lifetime!
