Germanna Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the science department as a laboratory assistant. Statement of Duties: The incumbent in this position will be responsible for setting up lab equipment, materials, solutions, etc., for biology, natural science, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and physics. The successful candidate will set up biological and chemical laboratories; assist with campus and college wide safety plan and safety training, maintain knowledge base of chemicals and technology; assist with supply ordering; manage inventory and biological wastes; will help design and implement new laboratory experiments in support of the curricula. This is a full-time classified staff position. Salary Range: $29,500. â?? $32,000. With full state benefits (state pay practices apply). Minimum Qualifications â?¢ Associatesâ?? degree in Biology or a related field, or a combination of the education, training, and experience in laboratory preparation. â?¢ Ability to make proper chemical solutions, culture bacteria, make media, and maintain equipment and supplies in a laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications â?¢ B.S. degree in Biology or related field. â?¢ Previous experience in preparing laboratory materials for teaching college level classes is desired
