Position Summary:
The Children’s Hospital Association’s (CHA) Marketing and Communications team is offering a full-time summer internship that will provide professional experience for a student with interest in writing and editing.

This position is ideal for journalism students seeking to gain experience in reporting, sharpen their skills and expertise in their craft, build a portfolio, and be a part of an organization with a compelling mission and vision.

Possible duties include:
Report, write, edit and proofread a variety of health care and hospital-industry related articles for CHA’s quarterly print and digital magazine, Children’s Hospitals Today
Report, write, edit and post web content to Children’s Hospitals Today online; support a web-first publishing model
Develop and curate content for the magazine’s weekly e-newsletter; support process of distributing e-newsletter
Special projects as assigned, such as performing a content audit, audience analysis, reviewing digital data and analytics for content trends
Support the Marketing and Communications team in the strategy, development and creation of member-facing projects and other collateral, from creative concept to implementation and spread of information to targeted audiences

Program Details:
The summer internship is a 12-week, full-time (40 hours/week) placement, beginning no later than May 29, 2019
CHA will work with the intern and the respective educational institution to ensure appropriate administration of the internship and academic requirements
Rate of pay will be $15 per hour
The internship is located in the CHA Lenexa, KS office; relocation, housing, mileage, etc., are not offered

Required Experience:
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a collegiate or graduate course of study, preferably in journalism, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. If an undergraduate student, the candidate must have completed at least the sophomore year.

Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply:

Strong interest in writing and reporting for print and web; experience working in a CMS (content management system) a plus
Excellent writing, editing and analytic skills; ability to work in a team setting
Familiarity with AP Style
Experience writing for a magazine, newspaper or other publication
Experience working in InDesign
