Applied Sciences, Inc. a globally recognized, leading nanotechnology Research and Development Company, is seeking a Scientist I. This individual will perform research on bulk carbon nanomaterials, development of new materials, and quality control testing under the direction of senior scientists and engineers. This individual will work on experimental design, conduct or coordinate experiments with direct guidance; demonstrate a basic understanding of relevant study protocols and procedures, and analyze data with direct guidance. The Scientist I functions as a technical resource to senior scientists and engineers to advance key projects and will work in research and development and production environments. This individual will participate in research and development of exciting new materials and product forms and will contribute to basic protocols, procedures, reports, and research lab notebook entries. The Scientist I will execute experiments as assigned, compiles data, computes and analyzes data, reports results and provides timely support for assigned duties. The Scientist I will assist with filling customer orders, shipping and receiving laboratory supplies, inventory, and customer service. This individual maintains clean and safe lab environment in compliance to environment, health, and safety policies and orders, maintains, and appropriately disposes of lab supplies, consumables, and chemicals.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is desired but not required. Experience in technical related field is a plus. Laboratory based experience or field in materials science is highly desirable. Excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is required. A mechanical aptitude is desirable. Basic familiarity with nanotechnology and microscopy equipment, analytical chemistry equipment is desirable. Familiarity with material processes such as coatings, films, paper-making, heat treating, functionalization, and polymer compounding is desirable.
