Pearson is seeking a Senior Product Manager of the Instructor Experience for our highest value digital courseware product lines. This role will partner with business, design, and technology counterparts to create compelling product strategies and product roadmaps that deliver high-quality experiences for our integrated platforms. Elements of success for this role include strong leadership and vision, creativity, strategic thinking and influencing skills. These high-intensity, high-profile initiatives demand a high degree of flexibility and willingness to work hands-on to achieve aggressive release targets with significant market potential. The successful candidate does not need extensive IT knowledge, but understands general IT terminology and working environments.

The ideal candidate is energetic, capable of shifting between priorities quickly and adding value to a broad range of business and integration needs, has some technical skills as well as strong communication skills, and has the ability to work across a broad group of collaborators and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

+ Serve as a product owner, leader, and motivator to develop new digital courseware experiences and make improvements to existing applications.

+ Hands-on software product management, design, analysis, and systems development from concept through delivery.

+ Work closely with user experience, engineering, business units, solution management, marketing, and customer success to ensure product goals are met.

+ Collaborate and maintain regular communication to refine requirements and update the product roadmap, using SAFe agile principles and processes.

+ Collect and analyze key site and business metrics. Use this data to support the prioritization and definition of initiatives, as well as determine the successful deployment and adoption of product features.

+ Develop requirements, drive feature prioritization and tradeoffs, write feature specifications, and develop a well-groomed backlog.

+ Understand the interdependencies between technology, service, and business needs.

+ Drive innovation, champion new projects, and collaborate strongly with cross-functional management to successfully get new product feature ideas on the roadmap.

+ Anticipate and resolve risks, obstacles, and timing issues. Ensure efficient use of company resources cross-functionally.

+ Create user stories and acceptance criteria for recurring production issues and new feature requirements.

+ Assist in the validation of completed user stories and features.

+ Attend weekly backlog ceremonies and daily SCRUM meetings.

+ Work closely with onshore and offshore engineering, quality assurance, and project management teams to scope efforts, identify and manage dependencies, and address roadblocks.

+ Coordinate between US and international based teams, and may work up to two evening hours per week (between 8:30p - 9:30p MST).

**Qualifications**

Minimum Required Skills

+ Minimum of 3 years of product management, user experience, business analysis, or systems consulting experience with demonstrated success defining and building digital or web-based products.

+ Experience with stakeholder management and translating customer needs to action, with a history of thriving in an agile product development environment.

+ Experience in designing compelling solutions and integrating complex systems/APIs.

+ Exceptional problem solving skills with a very strong attention to detail.

+ Passion for bringing innovative new products to market and creating great user experiences.

+ Experience working closely with engineering to balance technical, product, and business trade-offs.

+ Strong interpersonal skills and experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Know how to influence without authority.

+ A desire to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment with multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

+ Experience functioning as a product owner in a SAFe agile software development team.

+ Experience leading the development of new products in the education technology or digital media fields.

+ Experience with product platforms that rely on integrated services from other teams.

+ Experience with JIRA.

+ Experience coordinating projects in different time zones.

Minimum Education Requirement

+ Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or appropriate combination of education and experience.

+ Relevant Master’s degree is a plus.
