The Center for Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Care in partnership with The Center Foundation is seeking a motivated, positive and team oriented athletic trainer to join our high school sports medicine outreach program. This is a full time position consisting of split responsibilities working as cast-tech at The Center approximately two mornings a week and the rest of the time spent providing outreach athletic training services at the assigned high school.
The Center Foundation’s athletic trainers work in eight high schools across Central Oregon, including Bend, La Pine, Sisters, Madras, and Prineville.

The essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide evaluation, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.

Provide AT services during and for athletic practices, home competitions and travel to away varsity football games. Availability for event coverage in the evening and some weekends is required.

Provide appropriate emergency care and first aid and provide quick and accurate triage of emergency situations.
- Communication with student-athletes, coaches, and parents/guardians regarding student-athlete injuries. Act as a liaison between family physicians and specialist, coaches, school administration, school nurse, student-athletes and their parents.
- Maintain accurate medical records of injuries, treatments, and referrals.
- Provide concussion management services in accordance with The Center Foundation and School District Concussion Protocol, including neurocognitive baseline and post-concussion testing.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with applicable HIPAA and FERPA regulations.
- Assist with The Center Foundation events and programs and act as a representative within the community. Duties may include blog writing; and assistance with fundraisers, annual medical conference, Train Your Brain program and other events/programs put on by The Center Foundation.

Casting, splinting and bracing in a clinical setting under the direction of orthopedic surgeons.
Qualifications:

BOC certification required.

Currently licensed or eligible for athletic training licensure in Oregon.

Passion and desire to work in the secondary school setting.
- Previous experience with ImPACT or SWAY is a plus.
- Experience using Healthy Roster injury documentation software or similar.
- Candidates must exhibit strong organizational and communication skills.
- Candidate must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and ability to act as a positive role model for young students.
- Interest and desire to work in an orthopedic clinic environment providing casting and bracing services. No previous experience is not required, but is a plus. Training will be provided to the right candidate.
