Overview
Motivated, resourceful, and passionate about Downtown Olympia, our Downtown Guides support a welcoming, vibrant, and safe environment in our Downtown. The Guide's workplace is our Downtown, serving as trained hospitality ambassadors for visitors, residents, and employees to the area. The Guides also serve as a constant source of support for our small business community. In addition, they provide assistance to our street dependent population in downtown. All of this adds up to an opportunity to help support a thriving Downtown Olympia.
About the Olympia Downtown Alliance
The Downtown Alliance is focused on showcasing the amazing assets that exist in the Downtown Olympia constellation, while creating a platform for Downtown businesses to prosper. Where the rubber meets the road, that means a determined effort to advocate for Downtown, pursuing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, providing tools to help businesses succeed, all-the-while continually seeking to supercharge Downtown’s image.
We are a dynamic organization that has rebuilt our infrastructure from the ground-up over the last few years and we continue to grow and evolve. Our sole focus is providing value-added services to the Downtown business community by attracting the broader community to the heart of this region…Downtown Olympia. Responsibilities
The Downtown Guide reports to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for:
- Hospitality-Provide a warm greeting to Downtown patrons, sharing information and offering recommendations
- Safety-Be vigilant and present a distinctive presence to help deter crime
- Partnership-Call on both City of Olympia and social service resources to work together to address challenging behaviors Downtown
- Crisis Outreach-Engage individuals suffering from houselessness, mental health crises, and substance addiction in an effort to connect them with available resources in the community.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum two-years of work experience in a front-line, customer service related position, working with guests, customers, and/or clients high preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and with teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Balanced ability to take direction and take proactive initiative
- Knowledgeable about Downtown Olympia and its assets
Compensation and other considerations
- Compensation: $18/hour with increases based on performance
- Stipend for individual insurance plans
- Paid Time-Off
