The primary responsibility of the Executive Director - Aviation Controller is to oversee and manage the accounting and financial operations of the Aviation Department. This includes establishing, reviewing, maintaining and publishing weekly/bi-weekly and quarterly reports for each of the Global portfolios.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and Sands Aviation, LLC policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Objectives
Prepare, maintain and report on Aviation Department yearly operating budget. Periodic review with department leaders.
Assess, evaluate and review data for organizing projects and/or providing direction on activities, tasks or processes in accordance with company guidelines.
Arrange timeline to complete tasks and department assignments or projects, and meet the deadlines related to those assignments. Work on actual project or service to help achieve the objectives of the department.
Evaluate information to render an opinion or take action based on that information that will impact the department or function.
Possess skills to hasten resolution, assess course of action, and implement or take action based upon findings.
Manages monthly financial closing process including the utilization of Infinium and Great Plains general ledger systems.
Ensures integrity of departmental financial statements and provides accurate, timely and usable financial and operational reports to management.
Reviews and prepares account reconciliations for general ledger balances.
Ensures that all accruals are properly recorded and expenses recorded in the proper period.
Manages the accounts payable process. In doing so, the candidate must be forward thinking, creative and organized, while working with a substantial amount of detail.
Ensures that all aspects of financial closing and reporting process in the Aviation Department is consistent and in compliance with established Corporate policies and procedures.
Identifies potential problems, recommends sound solutions and supports implementation. In doing so, candidate must be a “take-charge” individual who tackles challenges with a sense of urgency.
Effectively advocates Corporate finance department programs and policies to other business units and divisions.
Provides input and executes strategic plan for the Aviation Department.
Manages Human Resources responsibilities for assigned personnel in the Aviation Department to include: fostering a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction; quality hiring, training and succession planning processes that encompass the company’s diversity commitment; adherence to the company’s status quo third party representation philosophy; compliance with company policies, legal requirements and collective bargaining agreements.
Performs additional duties as directed by management, including but not limited to, SEC financial reporting, budget to actual analysis and account analysis.
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.

21 years of age.
Proof of authorization to work in the United States
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting required. CPA is preferred.
7-10 years of supervisory experience desired.
15 years of finance/accounting experience with the aviation industry or public accounting firm
Must have extensive experience with accounting systems and financial statement closings and analysis.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
