Bulfinch Temps is looking for a Research Technician to work in the Radiology; Martinos Center at MGH. This position is 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri. This position starts in February and goes until the end of July. Please note that this position is temporary and does not offer benefits.
The Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), affiliated with Harvard Medical School and MIT, is one of the premier brain imaging research centers in the world. Our laboratory performs translational and pharmacological neuroimaging studies to investigate the effects of drugs on brain function. The research technician (RT) will assist with multiple research projects involving neuroimaging with positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Duties will include all aspects of support for conducting research studies.
Under supervision, the RT assists scientists with laboratory and investigative procedures related to neuropharmacology and neurobiology. The technician will be trained to conduct animal imaging experiments, various assays related to the research projects, and other technical duties of the laboratory. This position requires to work with animal models or animal and human tissue.
Perform PET and/or MRI experiments on animal models. Assist in the preparation and recovery of animals, and may be responsible for animal procedures, surgery, sectioning and histology
Preparing and maintain research protocols
Prepares and maintains detailed records, logs and summary reports of all procedures and results including graphs, scientific calculations, and statistical analysis charting
Maintain a clean working area and ensures a clean working area the safe laboratory practices are followed, including the use and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials
Perform basic post processing of data for preliminary findings and has the ability to present images
May be responsible for tissue & cell culture activities
May run biochemistry assays, such as western blotting and immunohistochemistry.
May perform microscopic imaging analyses
BS or BA, recent graduate with relevant coursework. Prior laboratory experience working with animals is a plus
Interest in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, biophysics, biochemistry, psychology, or related research field
Excellent organizational skills and ability to pay close attention to detail
Ability to plan and prioritize work while responding flexibly to rapidly changing priorities.
Strong written and oral English communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as with others
