The Department of Prevention and Community Health in Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University engages in research, training and practice that is founded in cutting-edge social-structural and behavioral theories and methodologies and driven by diverse community voices and partnerships. The Department of Prevention and Community Health is recruiting a Supervisor, Laboratory Services to play a key role on research related to health equity. The incumbent will work within Dr. Dangerfield’s research lab and be critical in the execution of several research studies in various research phases.
Our research:
- Includes a broad range of methodological approaches (e.g., secondary data analyses, randomized controlled trials, longitudinal studies, qualitative and quantitative research);
- Focuses on a broad range of multilevel influences (e.g., individual, interpersonal, community-level, policy);
- Addresses sexual health equity for racial and sexual minority groups.
The Supervisor, Laboratory Services assists instructors or researchers, prepares materials or samples, and does regular lab and equipment maintenance. Duties may involve lab supervision, which requires budgeting, personnel management, and planning abilities. Graduate assistants or student employees may also be supervised. Staff performance management necessitates the creation and distribution of performance assessments, as well as the monitoring of productivity and overall work quality. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training and mentoring, manages performance and determines future staffing needs.

The position is based at GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC, but may be require travel.
