We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse to join our dynamic endocrinology team. As a Clinical Nurse in Endocrinology, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to patients with endocrine disorders. You will work closely with endocrinologists, registered dieticians, other healthcare professionals, and patients to deliver high-quality care, education, and support. This position requires a strong background in endocrinology nursing, excellent clinical skills, superior communication skills, and a genuine commitment to patient well-being.

Patient Assessment and Care:

Perform thorough assessments of patients with endocrine disorders, particularly diabetes, including obtaining medical histories, conducting physical examinations, and assessing symptoms.

Collaborate with physicians and dieticians to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals.

Administer medications, including hormone replacement therapy, as prescribed, and monitor patient responses.

Provide patient education on disease management, self-care, medication administration, and lifestyle modifications.

Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.

Conduct follow-up visits to ensure continuity of care and patient adherence to treatment plans.

Endocrine Testing and Procedures:

Coordinate and assist with endocrine diagnostic procedures such as glucose tolerance tests, insulin tolerance tests, and hormone stimulation tests.

Perform blood draws, collect urine and other specimens for laboratory testing, and ensure accurate documentation of results.

Interpret and communicate test results to patients and collaborate with physicians to determine appropriate treatment interventions.

Assist with use of insulin pumps and CGMs (Continuous Glucose Monitors) - from beginning stage to troubleshooting

Patient Advocacy and Support:

Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights, privacy, and dignity are respected throughout their healthcare journey.

Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and addressing any psychological aspects of their condition.

Collaborate with social workers, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system, including scheduling appointments, coordinating referrals, and accessing community resources.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including patient confidentiality and privacy guidelines.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and best practices.

Professional Development:

Stay abreast of advancements in endocrinology nursing by attending relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs.

Engage in self-directed learning to expand knowledge and skills in endocrine disorders and treatments.

Actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and interprofessional collaboration to enhance patient care and contribute to the development of nursing practice in endocrinology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent degree.

Current and unrestricted nursing license.

Certification as an endocrinology nurse (e.g., Certified Endocrinology Nurse) preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in endocrinology or a related specialty.

In-depth knowledge of endocrine disorders, diagnostic tests, and treatment options.

Proficient in performing endocrine procedures and interpreting test results.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate patient care and education.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
