Responsibilities and Duties

Nature & Scope

As a member of Chicago Family Health Center and reporting to the Medical Director, Women’s Health, the OB/GYN Physician will provide comprehensive health wellness, preventative and medical care. This service will provide obstetrical and gynecological care and will include, but not be limited to, outpatient obstetrical and gynecological care and consultation on GYN surgical patients. The employee will also need to participate in programs and initiatives that improve the overall service provided by the OB/GYN Program. Furthermore, the employee will participate in the development of departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and other control standards. Directs ambulatory care and services for registered Chicago Family Health Center patients. Directs other health care clinical support staff, as well as, participates in quality assurance, quality improvement, peer review and special projects.

Job Specifications

  • Provides obstetrical and gynecological care within the inpatient and outpatient setting to include, but not limited to, history and physical exams, consultative services, daily rounding services, discharge planning, non-stress tests, labor checks, surgical assisting, delivery of newborns, initiation of inductions.
  • Provides medical and surgical care that is of high quality as judged by medical peers.
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA standards and regulations in managing or handling any patient information or patient inquiries.
  • Generates on-time starts (inductions/C-sections).
  • Acts as first assistant on C-sections and GYN surgeries.
  • Performs circumcisions on own patient population and as requested by obstetricians.
  • Rounds on OB and GYN patients.
  • Provides care to any OB unregistered patients that enter our facility.
  • Provides care to any GYN unregistered patients that enter our facility.
  • Provides consistent, on-going monitoring of all patients.
  • Provides reliable, accurate, timely and complete medical record documentation.
  • Participates in departmental meetings to achieve Dramatic Performance Improvement (DPI) and patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • M.D. Degree or D.O. degree from accredited school of allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
  • Completion of a residency in obstetrics/gynecology acceptable to the State of Illinois for licensure or board certification in obstetrics/gynecology.
  • Practice in a federally qualified health center or like practice serving diverse uninsured and underserved populations preferred.
  • Current and valid Illinois license as a physician and surgeon.
  • Current and valid DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Eligible for, or maintenance of, hospital privileges at affiliated hospitals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. English language fluency, bilingual capability strongly desired.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment exam is required. Baseline assessment of TB immune status required; annual assessment thereafter.
  • Occasional evenings or weekend work is necessary. Travel to all Chicago Family Health Center locations will be required.
