Visit our website. It’s where you’ll find any specific information you’ll need.
1. Client Presentation: Select some items you think would be good options for the client project identified below. Share the items you selected and your thoughts behind including them.
a. Our client, a manufacturing company, wants to give a nice gift to 100 of their customers, who’ll be attending a thank you dinner in November.
The attendees are senior-level managers. The attendees work hybrid—half of the time in the office, and half from home. The budget for this gift is $100 per person. If something is slightly over budget, but you think it’s the perfect thing, they’d like to know about it.
2. If you were to join our team, write the bio you would like published on our website.
3. Excel Project. Please show us how you would set up your Excel (or Google) workbook so that it will be easy for you to then turn these employee submissions into purchase orders for both our apparel vendors and the decorator.
After the jackets are decorated with the client’s logo, they’ll be shipped to the individual’s correct plant location (there are 5 plants). A total of 125 employees are receiving a jacket.
a. There are a total of six jacket style options
b. The six styles will be shipping to our decorator from three different apparel vendors
i. Style A and B from Vendor1, Style C and D from Vendor2, Style E and F from Vendor 3.
c. Each style is available in red, blue and black.
d. Each style is available in sizes XS-5XL
e. Once the garments reach our decorator, they’ll be embroidered and sent to each plant location.
f. Each jacket will be individually polybagged, and labeled for its recipient, streamlining the process for the HR department to distribute them upon arrival.
4. What Would You Say?
*NOTE: For the sake of our exercise, pretend that today is Monday, 9/23*
Client is expecting four boxes of Rubik’s Cubes for their event in a few days. When the boxes shipped from Seattle, we provided the client with both the tracking numbers and estimated delivery date. When you checked tracking this morning, you discovered that while three of the boxes are anticipated to deliver tomorrow, UPS seems to have misrouted one of the boxes. Instead of being in San Diego with the others, the missing box was last scanned in New Jersey a couple of days ago.
Here’s everything we know:
*When our client placed the order last month, they said they needed the cubes to arrive on Wednesday, 9/25. We don’t know for sure if 9/25 actually the day the Rubik’s cubes are going to be distributed, or if the deadline we were provided included a little wiggle room.
*We are working with our UPS rep to find the misrouted box. It is possible that it is lost.
*The vendor who produced the Rubik’s cubes is now out of stock, with new inventory arriving on 9/25. They told us they can print on 9/25 and ship 2 Day air for delivery on Friday, 9/27.
*We have found a substitute vendor who can quickly produce something comparable (not exact) to replace the missing box. They would ship Overnight to the venue if the event is on 9/25.
What will you do? What will you say? Please draft the initial communication you’d send our client. (There is no single right answer.) Remember that the client is counting on us to come through for their event and they have a million other things on their plate right now. Our contact is the event manager who will be flying into San Diego from London to facilitate the conference.
5. A penny for your thoughts: Give an example of a time you identified a project risk and kept a client relationship and project on task as you stewarded the project forward to successful completion.
6. Thanks for playing! Have fun! And when you submit the project, let us know what it was like for you.
7. Please also share your results of the www.16personalities.com quiz!
