We currently have a great assignment for an Engineering Project Manager II with one of our top clients. As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be supporting our client, a local water resource company located in the Northern Virginia area.
The Engineering Project Manager II will implement capital, renewal and replacement projects in our clients Capital Improvement Program. The Engineering Project Manager II will also lead several significant and complex capital projects for an awarded water resources recovery facility within the scope of the Wet Weather Program which are key to the continued successful operation of the facility during construction of the wet weather tunnel system.
The Engineering Project Manager II shall also:
Assume responsibility for the planning, design review and construction of capital projects
Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, contractors and vendors throughout the project to ensure success
Maintain comprehensive project documentation for all Engineering Department activities including contract documents, accounting documents and formal correspondence
Oversee departmental spending through generating requisitions and purchase orders, processing invoices and explaining project to Finance Department
Perform technical, para-professional engineering work that is carried out in accordance with general instructions and established practices & procedures
Coordinate project permitting efforts and ensure all necessary permits have been submitted to appropriate regulatory agencies and remain active during construction
Track and report project cost, schedules and status and work to keep projects on-time and within budget
Oversee construction projects by inspecting the progress and quality of construction and reviewing drawings, submittals and analytical test reports
Assure contractor performance and compliance with construction drawings, specifications and company procedures and guidelines
Prepare and negotiate change orders and review & approve contractor applications for payment
Prepare statements of work for inclusion in requests for proposals and invitations for bid, evaluate proposals and bid documents, prepare recommendations forward and manage professional service contracts
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Engineering and Wet Weather Program teams to ensure that work is progressing per schedule and budget Job Requirements
Specific qualifications for the Engineering Project Manager role include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or related field or a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering with a concentration in wastewater treatment
Minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering and Project Management or Construction Management
Knowledge of water quality issues and associated regulatory requirements
Wastewater and water treatment experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed
Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Trustworthy, self-motivated, passionate and dedicated to high-quality work
Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and the Microsoft Windows Operating System
PE or RA license preferred; PMP or CCM certification desirable
