This position is responsible for the preparation and completion of monthly journal entries, reconciliations, fixed asset transactions, cost of gas, cash monthly, quarterly and annual reports, and other special reports required by the internal departments, the Company and other outside governmental agencies. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records.
Prepare and post monthly journal entries
Prepare internal and external reports, analysis etc.
Prepare reconciliations and analyze general ledger and fixed asset accounts
Prepare various schedules and reports as needed
Work on projects, including system/information technology projects, gathering data for rate case work papers/regulatory requests, annual budgets, ad hoc requests, etc.
Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets
Keep abreast of changes in accounting rules
Collaborate with other members of the Operational Accounting team, Financial Reporting team and other departments to meet deliverables and deadlines
Work independently and manage time effectively to meet individual goals, team goals and tight deadlines

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Knowledge of Oracle & SAP general ledger system or other automated system (preferred)

Ability to use a personal computer and spreadsheet applications
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Education and experience:
Bachelor of Science, major in Accounting or equivalent experience
Minimum 1 year of experience preferred
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods; use hands; use close and color vision; use a keyboard/computer
Work is normally performed in a shared office environment
Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required during month/quarter/annual close and/or other date driven projects
Minimal travel may be required
