Overview
Senior Systems Engineer IIs for American Institutes for Research to work at our Washington, DC loc. Responsible for config mgmnt & releases, & collaborate w/ Technical Architects to ID & impl processes & systems to improve & eliminate risks in sw deployments. Work w/ various dev teams, QA team, and systems admins to streamline source mgmnt, build, & deployment processes, introducing automation where appropriate. Create & mng system deployment documentation. Define, impl, & mng the build, integration, & release process for all systems. Define, impl, & mng processes & procedures for source mgmnt. Serve as gatekeeper for source code & system deployments; establish controls & processes around these functions. Config source repository & CM tools. Introduce automation into build & deployment procedures. Impl version control of SQL Server artifact. Little domestic travel may be involved. May undergo background checks. Must have Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 7 years configuration management experience. Alternatively requires Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years configuration management experience. Also requires skill (5 years exp) in: A distributed version control system (Git, Mercurial, etc.); Managing the build and deployment of enterprise applications across multiple production systems for various clients; Developing automation scripts to automate the software deployment process; A scripting language (PERL, Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Shell Scripts (e.g. Bash), etc.); Integrating source control and bug tracking systems; Microsoft SQL Server version control; Customization of configuration management tools; CVS and TeamCity; Configuration management of open source software systems.
