Summary: Under general supervision, promotes, maintains, and improves individual and community health by assisting
individuals and communities to adopt healthy behaviors related to Tobacco, Asthma Control and Worksite Wellness.
Collects and analyzes data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating
programs designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies and environments. Assists with policy analysis and planning.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Assess community needs for tobacco and asthma health policy and
education. Plans effective tobacco and asthma health education programs as directed. Implements tobacco and asthma
health education programs. Evaluates the effectiveness of health education programs. Communicates health education
and resources to the public through presentations and health fairs as time allows. Maintains knowledge of current trends in
health education. Provides necessary reports for tobacco and asthma health education programs. Provides support for
CDPH tobacco policy and other worksite wellness efforts.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR
Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college
or university AND One year of experience in public health education.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Specific experience in Tobacco, Asthma Control
and/or Worksite Wellness is a plus.
Salary Information: $18 per hour / Up to 24 hours per week
