The Paralegal Program at Arapahoe Community College invites applications for a 9-month faculty position. Approved by the ABA in 1977, the Paralegal Program has a long, established record of academic excellence. Our faculty and instructors are licensed Colorado attorneys, judges, or paralegals with extensive experience in the legal field. Our program combines classroom instruction with practical hands-on exercises and real world training to prepare students for a career as a paralegal.

The Paralegal Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Paralegal Program. ACC Faculty teach 15 credits each fall and spring semester. Faculty have the option to teach courses during the summer semester for additional compensation. Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery methods, including online, computer-aided, distance learning, self-paced, interdisciplinary; courses are offered during the day or evening. Faculty are expected to develop and evaluate curriculum, advise students, assess student learning, and maintain required office and campus hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
License to practice law in Colorado.
Five or more years’ experience in the practice of law.
Must hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education Credential (which requires a minimum of five years documented professional legal experience).
Understanding of adult learning theory concepts with the ability to utilize these principles effectively in the learning environment
Experience working with paralegals with a demonstrated recognition of the value of paralegals in the professional workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:
Broad law practice experience (preferably 10 or more years) including litigation and/or transactional.
Teaching/training experience in Legal Research and Writing.
Experience with Legal Technology applications required in practicing law (examples: billings, case management office management, e-filing, and e-discovery).
Higher education teaching experience, experience working in a college environment, and experience working with diverse populations.

Advertised Salary Range: The full salary for this position is $69,275, commensurate with education and experience. This salary is based on 166 contract days within an academic year (August - May). The projected start date for this position is January 14, 2019; salary will be prorated based on the number of contract days worked. This is a full-time, 9-month, FLSA exempt position.
