West Valley Staffing Group is currently seeking an energetic Machining Estimator for our client in Santa Clara, CA!


Prepare cost estimates for product manufacturing to aid management in bidding on or determining price of products.


  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates to ensure Company is capable of manufacturing requested items.
  • Perform due diligence to insure we meet all needed specifications designated in drawings
  • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Consult with machinist for items that are complex or have special machining requirements
  • Confer with engineers and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Analyze cost when re-quoting items
  • Prepare estimates used by management for purposes of planning, organizing and scheduling work.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Create quotes using Jobboss
  • Search and request pricing for materials, raw materials, hardware. etc. needed for estimating
  • Search and/ or send RFQ’s for special tooling as needed for quoting (thread gages, cutting tools, etc.)
  • Participate in CCB meetings (materials, job planning, etc.)
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and or projects, as assigned.


  • Search and request pricing for raw material, hardware etc., needed for estimating while meeting the turnaround time of:

RPM/ RTM = 4 hours

Standard = as requested by customer

  • Send RFQ’s to vendors for machine services needed such as, quoting (tube bending, plating, cleaning etc.), while meeting the turnaround time of:

RPM/ RTM = 4 hours

Standard = as requested by customer

  • Provide estimates to customers using established targeted profit margins

  • B.A. /B.S. in Business or equivalent experience
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in purchasing, estimating, machine shop environment, or equivalent.
  • Experience in job shop environment preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and / or lead a team to resolve issues.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Salary: $75,000.00 to $85,000.00 /year
