The main function of a BI Project Manager is to oversee the application of project management methodology during all phases of the Business Intelligence project cycle, with responsibilities that include project design, scope management, cost control, quality and performance reporting. Manage all projects building Business Intelligence solutions for internal and external clients.
Develop, track and manage BI project budget, project plans, timelines and scope
Manage BI project resources including procuring project staff like BI Analysts and Engineers, developing, motivating, coaching, and advising
Partner closely with other members of functional project teams to define business requirements
Define test plans and ensure that products are defect-free before User Acceptance Testing
Facilitate the User Acceptance Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures
Prepare and present cost-benefit analyses
Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized
Make presentations to steering committees or project sponsors
2-4 years of similar experience
Orchestration: work back plan, line up resources, research strengths (not just setting dates: objectives clear, principles, clear who is owning what, engagement model)
PowerPoint, Excel, Word—build slides, ownership, timelines, narrate story
Organized and able to articulate
