Under the supervision, this individual will be responsible for all conducts related to infection control in assigned areas (units, clinics, and/or projects). S/he helps to prevent healthcare-acquired infections by isolating sources of infections and limiting their spread; systematically collects, analyzes and interprets health data in order to plan, implement, evaluate and disseminate appropriate preventive measures, and trains healthcare staff on infection control practices. S/he can rapidly recognize and respond to emerging infectious diseases, outbreaks, and exposures, serves a content expert in infection related matters and provides consultation to staff, patients, and visitors. S/he is responsible for ensuring full compliance of regulatory requirements. The successful candidate for this position holds a bachelor's degree in nursing, a master's degree in epidemiology, microbiology, or a related field. CIC™ is required within one year of hiring.

At least 1 year of work experience in a health care environment. Infection control experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of statistics and epidemiologic methods. Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Certification in Infection Control within one year upon hiring.
Perform targeted surveillance in patient care units.
Report communicable diseases to respective units/department in CNMC and public health agencies.
Review microbiology reports and identify any cases of epidemiological significant infection in the hospital; report any variances.
Ensure infection control databases are maintained in a timely fashion.
In collaboration with appropriate Hospital Epidemiologist/physician conduct an outbreak investigation.

Identify trends in healthcare associated infections and implement prevention strategies.
Identify prevention efforts and collaborate with appropriate staff to plan and implement prevention and control efforts.
Participate in targeted infection control education initiatives.
