Location: Palo Alto, CA
Purpose and Objective: SAP Labs, LLC seeks a Strategic Design Consultant for Palo Alto, CA office location to work in a dedicated project team which supports other multidisciplinary teams in a particular project area that involves analysis and investigation of design issues of various products, applications and systems of high complexity.
Expectations and Tasks: Responsible to deploy expert knowledge of digital user experience(UX) and emerging technologies such as Machine Learning, Blockchain and Internet-of-Things to deliver strong conceptual design frameworks grounded on user research. Define the new capability or enhancements to the existing user experience across the SAP domain. Demonstrate use of design methods such as conducting observational interviews, facilitating workshops, formulating insights related to the synthesis of research data, creating tangible, compelling design solutions that communicate the vision and innovation strategy. Enable internal SAP teams and customers with above methods. Help customers instill innovation culture within their organization. Assess usability problems caused by implementation errors, integration problems or IT customization often in conjunction with consulting domain experts. Create low and high-fidelity design prototypes and UX documentation such as functional specifications, user personas, journey maps and style guides. Collaborate with technical teams iteratively to implement conceptual designs. 30% travel required.
Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Technology, or a related field and 5 years of experience; or alternatively, a Master's degree and 2 years of experience.
Work Experience: Experience must involve human-centered and participatory methods of design to identify challenges and unmet needs of the user; creating prototypes, realizing design concept constraints, and developing a shared language for communicating with the developers; front end technologies such as HTML, CSS and responsive layouts; design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign; applying design methods such as flowcharts, persona creation, storyboarding, interaction flows and wire-framing; transferring use case definitions to complete design proposals; developing and scripting; visual designing techniques such as strategically placing images, colors, icons, fonts, and other elements; gamification through human-centered methods of interaction animation; realizing art concept constraints and developing a shared language for communicating with other designers; application of innovative technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and machine learning; game engines and 3D computer graphics software to create VR projects; using storytelling skills through rendered animation and video. 30% travel required.
