Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field is required (or equivalent experience) plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Software Tester & Technical Trainer. Our tester & trainer provides software testing, documentation, and end-user instruction on several information technology applications developed and maintained by GDMS for a multi-agency federal law enforcement operation fusion center as a member of our dedicated Quality Assurance team.
Our ideal candidate will have strong quality assurance experience in a software development environment. He or she will have good communications skills and either have experience in, or else the aptitude and desire to learn, delivering technical training for software applications.
Our team provides complete, end-to-end software and system engineering solutions for a large custom, multi-agency data warehouse. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Work from existing system test plans to conduct functional and operational tests on software applications
Update system test plans to incorporate tests for new functionality developed by our engineers
Report and track bugs
Record, analyze, and track system requirements
Validate and update system documentation, to include user manuals. Strong Word skills are required.
Provide customer support in areas of quality assurance and training
Deliver face-to-face, hands-on software application training to a range of personnel, including intelligence analysts, law enforcement agents, and management. Experience in training is a plus but not required, but you must be open to learning training skills on the job.
The training associated with this position is on-demand and is expected to be up to 50% of day-to-day duties (typically is 20-30%).
Develop course materials including but not limited to lesson plans, student and instructor guides, student examinations, training aids, etc. while working in an environment independent of support infrastructure
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge in use and understanding of test engineering concepts, principals and theories
Solid written and oral communications skills, including experience as a technical writer or editor
Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to produce training materials and documentation
Capable of managing ad-hoc training courses and one-on-one classes based on learner availability
Proficient analytical thinking and problem solving skills
