Grand Street Beverage (GSB) and Proteau Background and Overview

GSB, the producer of Proteau, strives to make the world more delicious through beverages with a harmonic convergence of flavors and ingredients from all over the globe. Our debut beverages Proteau’s Rivington Spritz and Ludlow Red are pleasingly balanced arrangements of bitter, floral, and fruit notes designed to delight both day and night. While Proteau has no shortage of complexity, it happens to be a 0% ABV aperitif. Proteau strives to further the idea that nonalcoholic beverages should be developed with the same level of thought, dedication, and respect as their alcoholic counterparts—and never as an afterthought.

Proteau's founder, John deBary has dedicated more than a decade to building refined yet complex beverages. John's extensive experience designing fthe Momofuku restaurant bar programs provided invaluable insight into creating drinks both delicious in their own right and complementary when paired with food.

John has long held the mindset that nonalcoholic beverages should be developed with the same level ofthought, dedication, and respect as their alcoholic counterparts—and never as an afterthought. Inspiredby the diverse selection of flavors found in New York City, John set out to create a series of botanicalaperitifs that can be enjoyed both day and night.

Job Summary

The Proteau Brand Ambassador (BA) will serve as a dedicated brand resource focused on driving growth for the Proteau SKUs within the New York City Metro area. Through the direction of GSB leadership, the BA's mission is to drive accessibility, awareness and education for Proteau offerings with customers and consumers while creating trial and adoption opportunities. This role will be looked upon as key liaison between GSB, our clients and other retail partners. This individual will lead the brand's efforts in attracting the interest and adoption of the high-end non-alcoholic beverage sector.

Primary Responsibilities/Activities

Brand and Category Championship

  • Work to establish and leverage Proteau SKUs as the “must have” offerings in the category
  • Have knowledge on competitor brands
  • Develop and maintain lasting relationships trade and key influencers including beverage directors/buyers , sommeliers, bartenders, caterers, and leaders in the local hospitality industry and event spaces
  • Support brand initiatives and visibility efforts in the local market; source, assess and execute local events designed to drive consumer trial and awareness
  • Provide specific brand expertise in retail interactions to leverage a brand opportunity, when requested by distributors
  • Primary host/coordinator of product tastings, across local digital platforms; source local content for Proteau digital channels

Brand, Cocktail and Category Education and Training

  • Educate the trade and any local agencies through direct interaction on the brand, consumer, occasion and the ideal serve
  • Provide brand expertise/training at the distributor and key account level
  • Host and stage consumer education/sampling events in local market (including off-trade and non-traditional channels TBD)

Sales Integration

  • Liaise with the local on-premise distributor manager to help build the brand in top accounts; off-premise
  • Work with distributor to increase Proteau footprint through obtaining new points of sale including both on and off-trade accounts; uncover and introduce product into non-traditional channels (ex. salons, yoga studios, art galleries, wedding registry retail)
  • Strengthen category leadership by obtaining menu placements in influential accounts
  • Manage key account list Marketing and Media Integration (ex. manage account investment, distribution and placement of visibility items, execute in-bar/store promotions)
  • Liaise with Grand Street Beverage leadership and the local distributor to optimize and amplify brand programming
  • Assist in brand toolbox development and ideation exercises
  • Primary host of cocktail demonstrations, across digital platforms; sources local content for Proteau digital channels

Financial Responsibility & Administrative Requirements

  • Effectively forecast and allocate budget and other brand resources against brand priorities
  • Timely submission of required program documents and deliverables

Minimum Requirements

  • 1-3 years experience in high-end beverage sales: Bartender, sommelier, wine retail, etc.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Creative thinker with an ability to innovate around the brand
  • Excellent speaking, presentation and communication skills
  • Familiar with developing brand sales presentations
  • Able to collaborate and develop and maintain effective working relationships with all members of extended sales and brand teams
  • Has sound financial skills and experience managing a budget
  • Willingness to work unconventional hours (late nights and weekends)
  • Shows strong networking skills and ability to build and maintain relationships within accounts, communities and organizations
  • Ability to travel as needed

Additional Comments

This role begins as a temporary/part-time employee, requiring up to an est. 20 hours weekly. The intent would be to take the ideal candidate full time pending a successful six month trial period.
